Quick Stop In Tallinn Estonia

Our final port of call was a city that I had never heard of until we booked this cruise, Tallinn Estonia. Having no information regarding this place, we had absolutely no expectation.

The cruise shuttle took us into old town Tallinn. We were, to say the least, pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the old fortified town. The place was very picturesque. Two medieval watch towers stood tall to welcome into the town. Attached to the towers were ancient walls of the fort.

We took a trip up the fort and walked along the wall. The view of the town was spectacular. Being in this place felt like stepping back in time. The red rooftops of old buildings, with church bell towers rising in the background, this was truly hidden gem in the Baltic Sea!

The day we were there was quite cloudy and rain looked like was on its way.

We walked up the cobble stone streets and arrived at the main square of old town Tallinn.

The main building was the old town hall. It was built in the 1322 but had to be restored in the 1950s after bombing during WWII. The rest of the square was like any other European city we have visited. Old buildings housing restaurants and souvenir shops. Having been travelling and being on the go-go-go, we decided to relax and sit back as we watch the sea of tourists go by while we sip on our beer.

During the visit we also saw a few churches, and a couple more towers.

The Oleviste Church Tower was the tallest in medieval Europe.

Our stay in Tallinn was not long, but I came away from the city with a few great pictures and an awesome "Ugly" sweater that local street stalls were selling! I can't wait till I get to wear it for Christmas this year!

Our first cruise is coming to an end, and it was definitely worth booking it. This was a great way to kick back and let the cruise take care of the travelling, and let the shuttles take care of getting us to old town and all the sights, and let the cruise feed us daily! Now we are recharged and ready to take on Eastern Europe!
