A Night Train Nightmare

I have never had a worse sleep than on the night train we took from Copenhagen to Prague!

After the cruise got back to Copenhagen, we booked our train out to Prague thinking it would be a neat experience to be in a sleeper cabin! Boy were we wrong!

Our day started with getting off the cruise, which went smoothly without a hick. However, because the cruise got to port at 7am and everyone had to be off at 9:30am, we had the whole day to spend with our luggage in Copenhagen.

We immediately got a taxi and went directly to the train station thinking we could walk around or check our bags, or whatever. We ended up staying at a McDonald's for eight hours! The only reason why we got through it was the free wireless internet there.

Matt had a washroom incident which he continues to burst into random laughters over. I think he goes into further details in his blog but basically there was an automatic door that is installed in the handicap stall of the washroom. The day we were there at the station, the men's urinals were being fixed so everyone was lined up for the stalls. This one automatic door was closed at the time Matt was there. But not knowing that there was someone inside, he proceeded to open the door with a press of a button. This led to a scream by the patron inside the stall, and then with the door slowly opening Matt scrambles to ask people around how to close it. Sadly for the naked dude on the toilet, the automatic door will not close until it fully opens itself. So there's Matt, and a bunch of others lining up and watching this naked guy on the toilet. Talk about awkward!

Back to the worst sleep ever.

Have you ever slept but kept waking up because you either don't want to sleep past your alarm because of something important the next day or there is just something that worries you that just keeps waking you up? The kind of sleep when you wake up and you're not even sure if you ever slept?!

Well the night train was just like this!

The constant noise from the train. The stop and go, stop and go. It drove me crazy! What was worse was half way through the night the train had to split into three sections cause each one was going to a different city. It was impossible to sleep through that!

Never again will I do this!

On the bright side, if you pay enough, you'll get a free breakfast in the morning and also a bottle of champaign when you first get on the train!

One embarrassing moment for myself.

I was simply introducing for you all our sleeper cabin and highlighting the odd sink that moves into the shower and also over the toilet. As I was highlighting this in a video, the gentleman taking care of our stay onboard was standing behind the door listening to me. It ended awkwardly when I apologized and he had an awkward smile on his face.

Sigh.
